The director of the Regional Archaeological Museum – Plovdiv, Assoc. Dr. Kostadin Kisyov, was awarded the highest award of the Ministry of Culture – “Golden Age”.

On the 1st of November, 2024 the Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov presented Assoc. Dr. Kostadin Kisyov – director of the Regional Archaeological Museum – Plovdiv the highest award of the Ministry of Culture – “Golden Age” – necklace and diploma for outstanding contribution to the development and strengthening of Bulgarian culture and national identity.

Assoc. Dr. Kisyov is one of the brightest representatives of archaeological science and museum work in Bulgaria. For over 40 years, he worked actively and dedicatedly as an archaeologist, scientist, museum specialist and university teacher. Under his leadership, the Regional Archaeological Museum in Plovdiv is one of the most modern and representative Bulgarian museums with prestigious exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. He is the author of 5 monographs and 270 scientific publications.

Assoc. Dr. Kisyov specialised in one of the most authoritative international centres – Museum Management in Paris; The American Cultural Centre in Sofia; The Fund for Art and Culture in Central and Eastern Europe; Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Under his leadership, a number of archaeological sites of national and world importance in the city of Plovdiv and the region were studied, protected and socialised.
