How to join an International Committee?
Dear NCs colleagues,
I contact you on behalf of ICOM’s International Committees, regarding the question “how a member can join an IC?”. The 32 International Committees bring together experts of museum specialties and join an International Committee is one of the ICOM members benefit. To learn more about the various benefits of being an ICOM member, please visit: https://icom.museum/en/news/5-good-reasons-to-join-icom/
To allow members to take full advantage of their IC affiliation, their data must be transmitted into the IRIS database as soon as possible. This is why we want to simplify and unify the IC affiliation process. As you know, IRIS is the database used by ICs to access member data. (Please see information below ). The more efficient way is to invite members to join an IC directly through their IRIS memberspace. This way, the information is automatically updated, and the IC and NC receive an email to let them know. Through this IRIS memberspace, the members can at least join an IC and update their email. I invite you to disseminate this link as much as possible to your members: https://icom-museum.force.com/login Feel free to share it in your website, newsletter… If you have any specific question regarding the ICs, you can contact your membership coordinator, or Marine Walon, ICs coordinator (marine.walon@icom.museum).
Please also note that the International Committees ’directory is available on the ICOM website: https://icom.museum/en/network/committees-directory/?type=137
Best regards,
Benjamin GRANJON

The member has several ways to join an IC : For new ICOM members :➔When theyfill in theapplication form to join ICOM.In this case, the affiliation will be imported in IRISdatabase at the same time than all theirinformation. For ICOM members:➔Through IRIS memberspace. All the ICOM members have access to IRIS memberspace. (please note that, in general, the username is the email address). The memberscan at least join or update their IC and theiremail through theirmemberspace.Theycan access to the IRIS memberspace here :https://icom-museum.force.com/loginIf themembers cannot log in, this is certainly because their email is incorrect in IRIS. In this case thank you to update the email in IRIS. Once the information is up to date, the members user will be theiremail, and theywill be able to use the link”Forgot your password” to reactivate theirmemberspace. If your NC does not use IRIS, thank to send the correct email to your membership coordinator in Paris, and ask for a reactivationof their IRIS accounts.Once the membersareconnected, theycan update theirIC via the “Editmy personal information” button.
Then scroll down until “My ICOM Committees” Section and select the main IC theywant to join (with voting rights), and theICs of interest:Once theirinformation hasbeen modifiedand saved, it will be automatically updated in IRIS, and the NC and IC will receive an email of notification.NB: In thecase your NC is not using IRIS as database, please don’t forget to update your NC’s database. When membersaskyou to change theirIC affiliation, you can directly forward themthis link: https://icom-museum.force.com/loginWe invite you to disseminate this link as much as possible (inthe NC website, Newsletter …)➔ThroughtheICOMwebsite.
