One of the most impressive frescoes of the ancient city, which is more than 2000 years old, has restored its former splendor thanks to laser technology. The fresco decorated the Casa dei Ceii mansion, which archaeologists excavated in 1913-1914. At one time it was one of the most magnificent mansions of the ancient city, built in the 2nd century BC. According to researchers, the family of a local judge lived there. Archaeologists have found an atrium and a colonnade in the richly decorated house. The large fresco on the back wall of the garden was visible to all who entered this luxurious mansion, said Massimo Osana, director of the Archaeological Park in Pompeii. According to him, the mural not only decorated the house, but also expanded the space visually. On it the ancient artist painted hunting scenes and wild animals. Since the beginning of the 20th century, when the fresco was discovered, insufficient care has been taken for it and the work of the mural is gradually falling apart. An unsuccessful restoration only makes things worse. The ongoing work on the restoration of the mural began in September last year and has not yet been completed. This time, the restorers are using new laser technology. With its help, specialists carefully clean the top layer of the painting, and then restore the damaged fragments of the work with the help of retouching. Ancient Pompeii is one of the largest tourist attractions in Italy and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Much of the Greco-Roman city still lies beneath a layer of ash after the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. Although excavations have been carried out here since 1748, researchers still find all sorts of finds in Pompeii. This antiquity is very interesting information about what life was like in the city before the tragedy.
