Museums and galleries protest. Why?
Museum and gallery staff will protest today. Some of them will remain closed all day, and others only for an hour. The reason – the low funding of cultural institutions, provided in the budget for this year, said BNR. “Don’t kill Bulgarian museums!” Is the call with which the protest organized by the National Federation of Culture at the Podkrepa Labor Confederation begins today. “We are forced to take these actions because of some ill-considered statements of responsible factors during the discussions of the draft budget in our area,” wrote the union and asked the government – what practical model of survival will offer museums, galleries and libraries provided that the increase in the budget for their development would be 5% and 9.2% respectively; do they think that this money will be enough just to dust off their jobs and how such decisions will leave cultural poverty a thing of the past.
