Twelfth International Biennale “Masters of Caricature” – Plovdiv’ 2023
On October 2, 2023 (Monday) at 6 p.m., the opening of the Twelfth International Biennale “Masters of Caricature” – Plovdiv’ 2023 will take place. The theme of the current Biennale is “Magic in Time and Space”. It is aimed at the world of the supernatural and magical, accompanying humanity since ancient times. Every nation has in its traditional culture good and demonic characters united by magic. By resorting to her help, people seek to compensate for the impossibility of achieving the desired through rational means. Magic is called upon to fill this gap, replacing the lack of knowledge with the wrong association of ideas and absolutizing the principle that “like begets like.”
For the twelfth edition of the International Biennale “Masters of Caricature” – Plovdiv’ 2023, 232 caricatures were received by 106 authors, representatives of 37 countries from five continents. According to the regulation, the jury nominated 20 artists. He awarded five of them with the title “Master of Caricature”, and awarded the rest with a diploma. Congratulations to the awardees!
