Multidisciplinary international conference
“Transanimalism: the enlarged animal, between utilities and protections”
Friday, December 3, 2021, via video conference
Organized by the University of Paris 8, the University of Cannes Normandy and the Normandy Department of Peace, in partnership with the French National Commission for UNESCO
The search for lasting peace with the Earth presupposes an understanding and discussion of the current and future evolution of the animal, as an object of modifications, transformations, adaptations and representations. As such, the conference entitled “Transanimalism: the enlarged animal, between utilities and protection” will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, via video conference. The aim is to initiate discussions that allow a better understanding of the impact of “transanimalism”, designed to increase the capacity of the animal in the extreme of human well-being, by erasing many disciplines (law, medicine, ethics, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, IT, economics, history …). The challenge is to understand this artificial transformation of the animal into a social dimension, considering the motives for such an approach, but also the risks of it. Are animal, human, nature and environmental rights safeguards in this regard? Otherwise, can’t the animal be considered a creature of nature with a universal right to protection? So many observations, questions, reflections and suggestions for consideration in the dimension of lasting peace with the Earth.
